Jan works in an aged-care facility and wants to know how to prevent or minimize the effects of dementia. She read that keeping your brain active in old age protects against some forms of dementia. Jan wanted to investigate this hypothesis so as to better provide assistance for her elderly clients. She noticed that many elderly clients enjoyed completing crosswords, and that these people seemed to be the ones exhibiting the fewest signs of dementia.
